Episcopal Day School partners with a third party, www.wholesomefoodservices.com, to provide one entrée per day to students who choose to participate. Other students choose to bring their lunches. In the 2025-26 school year lunch options are provided by the following local establishments:
Jersey Mike’s (Monday)
Kick Back Jack’s (Tuesday)
Chick-fil-A (Wednesday) Ordered Separately
McDonald’s (Thursday)
Marco’s Pizza (Friday)
The cost varies by lunch option. View the lunch program flyer here. Students eat their lunches together, on a staggered schedule. Chick-fil-A order forms are sent in the parent weekly email and accepted monthly.

Please know that the safety of Episcopal Day School children is the primary objective of our inclement weather policy. When the local area experiences severe or unusual weather conditions, please refer to one or more media for information regarding the school’s status. We will make every effort to notify you by email, text message, the EDS website, Facebook, Instagram, and REMIND messaging system. Additionally, information will be sent to STAR 102.5 FM and WRAL-TV Channel 5 concerning EDS’ school closings and delays. When realistic, we will make this decision early evening. Ordinarily, you will find our status as either Closed, Delayed, or Closing Early. If the status is Delayed, the time of the delay will be specified. A delay will be either 1 hour or 2 hours. Please be aware that EDS will make a decision about closing and delays independent of the Moore County Schools and other nonpublic schools. We may be open or delayed when other schools are closed.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, IF EDS IS OPEN, AND YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE TRANSPORTING YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL, EPISCOPAL DAY SCHOOL WILL RESPECT YOUR DECISION TO REMAIN AT HOME. IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS, PARENTS SHOULD MAKE THE FINAL DECISION REGARDING THE SAFETY OF TRANSPORTING THEIR CHILDREN.
If weather conditions worsen during a school day, you have the prerogative of picking up your child at any time. Please call us ahead of time to let us know you are on the way to school. Depending upon conditions and continuing weather reports, the school may call and ask you to pick up your child early, but we will try to avoid this circumstance if at all possible. We realize that an early dismissal creates a difficult circumstance for working parents. The availability of the Extended Day program, or its hours, will also depend on the nature of the weather conditions. Please consult the website, or other media noted in this policy rather than calling the school office. Again, we will use a variety of media to communicate this information if necessary.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Episcopal Day School offers a popular after school program called “Extended Day” which is available from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm daily. A snack is provided each day, as well as a variety of activities. Time is also allotted for the completion of homework as well as outside play. Parents sign up for extended day on a monthly basis, choosing the days they need, at $15.00 per day for pre-registered students. Monthly reservation forms are emailed by the school office. Due to high demand, our extended day program is limited this year and we do not allow drop-in care.
For more information, please call 910-692-3492, or email Lisa Hilt, Director of the Extended Day Program, at extendedday@episcopalday.org. If you need to reach the Extended Day Staff after school, please call 910692-3492 and dial extension 109.

THE EDS PTA
The Episcopal Day School PTA is an integral part of students’ learning experiences at the school. Importantly, the PTA is the primary vehicle for volunteerism at EDS, and it is open to all parents. By being at EDS, a parent is automatically a member of the association. There is a wide variety of committees that provide valuable service to the school, as well as organize several major events for children and adults, including our Awesome Autumn Festival and our Candlelight Tour of Homes. Proceeds from general fundraising activities are used to enrich the classrooms and the campus itself. Parent volunteers are essential to the success of Episcopal Day School.
PTA meetings for the 2024-2025 school year will be held on campus at 8:15 am on the following dates:
August 27th
September 24th
October 22nd
November 19th
January 21st
February 25th
March 25th
April 15th
May 13th

PTA Sponsored Committees & Events
Teacher/Staff Appreciation
All Year (September Kick-Off)
This committee works together throughout the school year to show the teachers and staff of EDS how much they are appreciated by the parents and students. Volunteers are responsible for helping organize appreciation luncheons, staff meeting refreshments, as well as other random acts of kindness throughout the year.
Box Tops/Labels for Education
All Year
This committee designs an incentive program to get the students and teachers clipping. Several times during the school year box tops/labels for education are collected and the class with the most is rewarded with a small token of appreciation. It is the responsibility of the committee to sort and mail the box tops/labels for education collected from each classroom.
School Pictures Fundraiser
Fall
Pictures are taken during the fall of each school year. This committee coordinates with a professional photographer to take individual photos of the students, assists the teachers on the day of the photo session, and help to make sure parents receive the necessary information about the ordering process.
Awesome Autumn
October
Awesome Autumn is a greatly loved family event that is an evening for fellowship, costumes, games, and prizes. This committee works to create a carnival atmosphere in the Parish Hall for all to enjoy. Volunteers assign each classroom a booth to be in charge of for the evening, are in charge of coordinating set up the morning of the event and clean up after the event.
Candlelight Tour of Homes
December
This fundraiser has been an Episcopal Day School Tradition for the past 39 years and the EDS PTA’s largest fundraiser of the year. This committee coordinates the logistics of procuring homes, marketing the event, creating brochures and tickets, and organizing ticket sales and entertainment as well as ensuring we have enough host/hostesses the day of the event.
