Lauren Hunt

With fifteen years of teaching experience, I bring a deep passion for literacy and a commitment to helping every child succeed. A proud New England native, I earned my degree from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, before beginning my career as a kindergarten teacher in North Carolina. It was during those early years in the classroom that I discovered my love for teaching children how to read.

To further pursue this passion, I earned a master’s degree in reading education and later transitioned into a role as a learning specialist. I’ve been fortunate to work with students of all ages, abilities, and learning styles—an experience that has enriched my teaching and reaffirmed my belief in the power of individualized instruction. I believe effective teaching is a blend of direct, explicit instruction, fostering a genuine love of learning, and building students' confidence.

My continued training in the Orton-Gillingham approach has equipped me with the tools to support developing readers in a structured, multisensory way. Outside the classroom, my husband and I have two children who share our love for reading and the beach. As a family, we spend as much time outdoors as possible and especially appreciate the warmer winter months.

I am so happy to be a part of the EDS family and look forward to a wonderful year ahead
