Second Grade

Mrs. Davis's Class

Second semester finds Mrs. Davis’s second grade busy studying government, dictionary skills, famous presidents, sound, weather, and matter.  Our unit on matter will be followed by a field trip to the Greensboro Natural Science Center where we will tour the exhibits, visit the new zoo area and participate in an exceptional presentation on matter.

We daily do our Saxon Math lessons and are currently working hard on our subtraction wraps.  We enjoy doing the “monster wraps”.

We’ve learned a lot about our famous presidents, and then we made silhouettes of ourselves and wrote about what we would like to do when we grow up.

For our study in government, each child will present their report on a particular symbol, building or monument of their choosing.

When we study geometric shapes, we will be making a city using the shapes we’ve studied to create unique buildings and landmarks.

We are also working on a program to present on Grandparent’s Day.

So much to do, and so much to learn!!
