The Episcopal Day School Southern Pines, NC

Physical Education

Episcopal Day school provides a well-rounded physical education program for all students. The program offers each student a strong basis of lifetime fitness, sports, and recreational skills.

In preschool, the emphasis is placed on basic motor skills, ball-handling skills, creative movement, stunts and tumbling, and physical fitness. Active games and relays are used to reinforce skills.

Students in 1st and 2nd grade continue to practice and refine their skills. In addition, sports skills are introduced and students participate in the President's Physical Fitness Program.

In 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, instruction focuses on team sports and physical fitness tests are administered as part of the President's Physical Fitness Program. Stunts, tumbling, and active games continue to be a major part of the program.
