Episcopal Day School Inclement Weather Policy

The safety of Episcopal Day School Children is the objective of our Inclement Weather Policy.  Therefore, when the community experiences severe or unusual weather conditions, please refer to the following media for information regarding the school’s status.

Episcopal Day School follows the Moore County School decision on opening, closing, and delays due to inclement weather.  We will also use the Alert Now System to contact you with a recorded message regarding any school delays or closings.  Tune your radio to STAR 102.5 FM, WRAL-TV Channel 5 (CBS)for information on school closings and delays.

IF SCHOOL IS OPEN AND YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE TRANSPORTING YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL, EPISCOPAL DAY SCHOOL WILL RESPECT YOUR DECISION.  IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS, PARENTS MAKE THE ULTIMATE DECISION REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THEIR CHILDREN.

If weather conditions worsen during a school day, you may pick up your child at anytime. Depending upon conditions and continuing weather reports, the school may call and ask you to pick up your child.

SPECIAL NOTE: We urge you to consult the media sources noted in this policy rather than calling the school office.  Heavy phone traffic during inclement weather ties up office lines and usually leads to caller frustration.  We want to do all that we can to help you through inclement weather conditions.
