Inclement Weather
The safety of Episcopal Day School Children is the objective of our Inclement Weather Policy. Therefore, when the community experiences severe or unusual weather conditions, please refer to the following media for information regarding the school’s status.
The headmaster in consultation with the Assistant Head will make the decision on closings, delays or early dismissals. Please tune your radio to STAR 102.5 FM, or your television to WRAL-TV Channel 5 for information on school closings and delays. Our school will also call you through our AlertNow system to notify you of closing information. Ordinarily, you will find our status either Closed, Delayed, or, Closing Early due to unforeseen inclement weather conditions. If the status is Delayed, the opening time will be included.
IF SCHOOL IS OPEN AND YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE TRANSPORTING YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL, EPISCOPAL DAY SCHOOL WILL RESPECT YOUR DECISION. IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS, PARENTS MAKE THE ULTIMATE DECISION REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THEIR CHILDREN.
If weather conditions worsen during a school day, you may pick up your child at anytime. Depending upon conditions and continuing weather reports, the school may call and ask you to pick up your child.
SPECIAL NOTE: We urge you to consult the media sources noted in this policy rather than calling the school office. Heavy phone traffic during inclement weather ties up office lines and usually leads to caller frustration. We want to do all that we can to help you through inclement weather conditions.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
